Yes, we shoot the dog
at your wedding.

Couples ask us if we shoot dogs at their wedding. Yes. The answer is yes. We've never said no to a dog. We don't charge extra. We don't make it weird.

The fact that this is even a question tells you something about the rest of the industry — most wedding photographers don't talk about pets, leaving couples to wonder whether bringing the dog will be a problem. So they don't ask. So the dog stays home for the day they should've been there.

Why couples assume photographers won't shoot dogs

Three reasons we hear over and over:

Solving all three: ask the photographer at the consult, ask the venue's coordinator, and plan a dog-handler so the bride and groom aren't on dog duty.

How we work with dogs on a wedding day

A short, predictable cameo is better than a long stressful one. We'll plan a 20-30 minute window for the dog — ceremony entrance OR couple portraits, not both. Then a sitter takes them home before the reception ramps up.

Common questions about dogs at weddings

Can my dog be in my Coachella Valley wedding?

Yes. Outdoor desert venues are ideal — open space, fresh air, and room for a handler. Bring your dog for the ceremony OR portraits, then send them home with a sitter before the reception.

Are Palm Springs wedding venues dog-friendly?

Most outdoor and private estate venues in Palm Springs welcome dogs. Hotel ballrooms vary — confirm with the coordinator before booking. Vacation rentals and Airbnbs almost always allow it for the getting-ready hours.

Do you charge extra to photograph dogs?

No. The dog is part of the family. Same coverage, same time, no upcharge.

What if my dog gets nervous at the ceremony?

Plan for a 20-30 minute cameo — ceremony OR portraits, not both. We work timing around your dog's tolerance, not the other way around.

Can my dog be in family portraits?

Yes — and they often photograph better than half the human relatives. Keep the family group small when the dog is in frame so the energy stays manageable.

Should we hire a dog handler for the wedding day?

Yes, especially if guests will get distracted petting the dog. The bride and groom can't be on dog duty. Hire a friend who's not in the wedding party, a relative, or a professional handler. Pay them, feed them.

Can my dog be the ring bearer?

Yes. Tie the rings to a small pillow attached to the dog's harness — never the collar (the collar pulls when the dog walks). Practice the aisle walk a couple of times before the day.

What outdoor Coachella Valley wedding venues work best for weddings with dogs?

Spanish hacienda venues, private estates, and mountain venues like Tahquitz Pines in Idyllwild work best — open ground, low foot traffic during ceremony, shaded spots for the dog to rest. Country club ballrooms work if there's an outdoor area attached to the ceremony space.

What we won't do

We won't force animals into photos. We won't pose them in stressful positions. We won't make a dog sit still for 20 minutes for a single shot — that's not how dogs work, and the photos look forced when you try. If your dog isn't into it on the day, we adjust. The shot we don't take is better than the shot that looks like a dog being held in place.
